Frequently Asked Questions

What does machine washable mean?

A machine-washable rug can be put straight into your washing machine without getting damaged, so you can clean it at home instead of paying for professional cleaning.

Is a washable rug good for pets?

Yes. Washable rugs are stain-resistant and easy to clean, which makes them an excellent choice for homes with pets or young children.

Will the washable rug fade after frequent washings?

No. Our washable rugs are engineered to resist fading and hold their shape, so they keep their colour even after repeated washing.

Are washable rugs really worth it?

For most Irish homes, yes. Washable rugs give you the look of a quality rug with far less upkeep — spills and muddy paws wash out in the machine, so they pay off in high-traffic rooms, family spaces and homes with pets.

What is the best brand of washable rug?

The best washable rug is the one that fits your room size, style and budget. At Moyry we stock the Loft washable range in a wide choice of colours and sizes, all machine washable at 30°C, stain-resistant and delivered Ireland-wide.

Do washable rugs actually fit in the washer?

Smaller and medium washable rugs fit a standard home washing machine. Larger sizes may need a bigger-capacity or laundrette machine — always check the care label for the maximum recommended size and wash at 30°C.

What are the downsides of washable rugs?

Washable rugs are typically thinner and lower-pile than traditional wool rugs, and very large sizes can be awkward to fit in a home machine. In return you get easy cleaning, non-slip backing and fade resistance — a worthwhile trade for busy households.
